		<description>As a young man I had a book of conversion factors called Wright&#039;s Mathematical Tables (I still have a photocopy somewhere).

It stated that the barleycorn was still used as the unit of measurement for Shoe Sizes (I assume UK and maybe American) - each size being 1 barleycorn bigger than the last.

So maybe the barleycorn as a unit of measurement is still in use.</description>
