Whether you strike your own moldings with hollows and rounds planes,
machine tools, or buy them ready-made,
moldings present a problem for the single chute shooting board.

Unlike rectangular board stock, moldings are boards
with contoured faces that cannot be used for reference orientation.
They require that they be laid on their backs for accurate mitering.

Often, moldings require distinct left and right hand
45 degree miters on them, requiring a shooting board
that specifically addresses this, and maintain the proper orientation.
Fitment for framing and trim is critical, angular accuracy
and exact lengths are important to getting
the perfect fit and finish.

The 'Picture Frame Shooter' is a thoroughbred shooting board
for mitering work on either moldings or
rectangular stock, that offers high accuracy,
high productivity and excellent ergonomics,
so all you have to do is focus on the task at hand.

Our shooting boards are made from Baltic Birch,
the most rugged, stable and moisture resistant of all plywoods.
The overall size is 1-1/4 inches thick, by 14-3/4 inches square.

Both chutes are 2-3/4 inches wide,
trued to within .001 straightness and
within .001 coplanarity to the top of the board.
The Dust Grooves keep small shavings
from accumulating and fouling the plane's accuracy.
Wide enough to accommodate any plane.
Finely smoothed and buffed with wax
for an accurate, friction-free plane chute surface.

The 'Picture Frame Shooter's' working area is nominally
9-1/4 inches wide by 11-1/2 inches long,
allowing a wide range of board widths to be trued.
The fence mounting points are counterbore-set steel inserts,
centered on the specific angles offered, and epoxied for rigidity and longevity.

The three fences are a special design for specific situations.
Dedicated left and right 45's, or dedicated 90.
Designed for thick or thin stock and moldings,
the tall faces are sized for a 2-inch blade and can be
easily disassembled from the bases, for short molding work.
Each working surface has been flattened to .001 on certified granite.

No pivot fences here. These fences are purpose built
for their position, and mount solidly
in the position they were made for.
They are user calibrated for high accuracy
and maintain calibration under shooting forces very well.

To shoot from left or right using the 45 degree fences,
calibrate, then simply place the shooting plane in the appropriate chute,
and orient the work to shoot it.

For the 90 degree work, We build the fence to favor
the hand you choose. It will only work on that one Chute.
Simply remove the 45 degree fences, install the 90 degree fence
calibrate and place the plane in the chute that favors your strong hand.
